There’s nothing quite like the quiet, tender moments of a newborn session in the comfort of home. Recently, I had the privilege of capturing a sweet in-home session for some past clients – turned friends who had just welcomed their first baby! There’s something uniquely special about being invited back into my clients lives as their families grow and this session was no exception.
Ashlynn & Hunter have a home that is filled with warmth and love – soft blankets, a cozy (and beautiful) nursery, and the peaceful hum of a new family learning how to co-exist together. Seeing these guys embrace parenthood was so special. There was a sense of awe as they cradled baby Baylor and loved on him during the session.
The beauty of an in-home newborn session is the comfort it offers to everyone involved. There’s no rush, no need to worry about getting dressed up or traveling to a studio. It’s about capturing the true essence of these early days—those soft, unposed moments when the family is just getting to know each other. The nursery, the nursery chair and all of the things that become cherished memories frozen in time.
As we wrapped up the session, I felt so grateful to have been a part of the Gates family journey. I first met these guys while taking their engagement photos and have since taken graduation, wedding, pregnancy announcement, maternity and now newborn photos for them. Such an honor to have my clients become friends!
The first few weeks of a newborn’s life are fleeting, and it’s a true honor to help families preserve these precious memories. This session was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most meaningful photos are the ones taken at home, surrounded by love and the people who matter most.
